Membership fees: Payable by monthly Standing Order

Adult Classes: £55 per month (S.O. form)

Junior/Cadets Classes: £45 per month (S.O. form)

Please hand in the completed form to your bank, or use the same information to set-up a standing order through your online banking.

The BKA does not require you to enter into any formal contracts or serve notice to cancel your payment arrangements if you leave the dojo.

Joining the EGKA

You will also need to join the English Goju Ryu Karate Association (EGKA), which is our national grading authority. Membership costs £45 a year (Jnrs: £25) and provides many benefits including third party liability and personal accident insurance during training. To join click here.

Visiting students from other dojos

Occasional visitors to the dojo are always welcome. The fee for a single lesson is £10 cash. Please bring the correct cash on the night.

Other costs you face as a beginner

Taking up karate requires a very minimal outlay in clothing and equipment.

The karate training uniform - The all-white Gi

Certainly for the first six months you will find the white, cotton training uniform (Gi) we provide free of charge will be more than sufficient to meet your needs. As you progress through the grades most of us invest in a more heavy weight canvass Gi. Sensei Ernie can advise you where to source the best buys in class.

Sparring gloves and body protection

When you progress to kumite (sparring), you will need to buy sparring gloves and leg protectors. You can buy a perfectly adequate set of gloves and leg protectors for as little as £25. You can also spend a lot more on buying up-market leather options. Again Sensei Ernie will advise on what is best.
